About Me

Katelyn Collins, RDN

When I was in 5th grade, I wanted to know why my stomach hurt every time I ate ice cream, so I consulted the Internet and read all about lactose intolerance. This was my first experience with nutrition “research” and the beginning of an insatiable curiosity about nutrition.

My early interest in nutrition and health evolved into a passion during college when I was finally diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). I started playing around with my diet and was amazed at how strong of an influence food had on my IBS symptoms and other aspects of my health. I had always wanted to help others, but going through the difficult task of changing my diet solidified my desire to study nutrition and become a dietitian.

Educating people on fats during my dietetic internship

Even though I am now a registered dietitian nutritionist, I will never stop learning. I stay on the cutting edge of nutrition practice by reading the latest research, listening to podcasts from some of the best in the field, and attending conferences for healthcare professionals. I am also continually pursuing advanced training in integrative and functional nutrition.

The best part about being a dietitian is that there are so many different ways to help people! Not only do I work with people on an individual level to help them optimize their health through food, I also work with companies to help provide evidence-based nutrition and health information to the public. You can read my full education and work history below.

When I am not geeking out over nutrition research, you will find me watching movies, going to the beach (weather permitting), and pretending to be good at cooking. You can check out my latest recipes here!

Best place in the world!
